Overview
The Final Lap is a a fully branded self guided tour for Miami University. It has a total of three touchpoints as well. The main demographic of this tour is graduating seniors at Miami University. This tour allows them to capture photos in their cap and gown all across Miami’s campus. As a senior at Miami I have begun to notice how important it is to be able to capture the memories of these four years. The idea for The Final Lap came from that want to make memories that I can take with me once I leave Oxford, Ohio.

Final Branding for The Final Lap Self Guided Tour

 
 

Logo
The main logo went through a few different iterations. After I began creating a brand that was strongly driven by iconography, I knew I wanted the logo to have that as well. I wanted the element to be very indicative of graduation. This is why I chose the tassel, I then continued to refine the element so it was very identifiable and had aspects of the off white color to really make it stand out.

Color
Since this was for Miami University I was stuck between using Miami colors and branching out. I decided since it would only be up for a limited amount of time I would branch out. I did use the Miami red and white and added another lighter red to balance it out. The addition of the pink, blue, and yellow really helped as I expanded the pattern as well.

Pattern
The entire brand really relies on this fun and bright pattern that can easily rearrange to fill different shapes. Additionally, I utilized different patterns within to add variation and give the icons room to breathe. I included basic patterns and ones that fit the celebration theme. I then used different shapes to create some other patterns that allow for those boxes to stretch or shrink based on the shape it had to occupy.

Graphic Element
The last part of this brand were the graphic elements and use of iconography. I created elements that were very representative of both Miami and graduation in general.
